HP DVD Writer 1040R is not recognized by Windows 7

My laptop stopped recognizing  HP DVD Writer 1040r all of a sudden. Well that was what I thought at first. But after an hour of searching online I found the solution and I think I know what caused it. It happened after I installed Pinnacle Studio Plus 10.6. During the install, Windows was complaining about the driver but I ignored it not knowing which driver it was taking about.


Here is the solution. I found it on the HP Support Forum:

I copied and pasted the solution here just in case they remove it from the forum.
Note that on my laptop, the ONLY registry key I found was


"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\LowerFilters"


I renamed it (instead of delete just in case) and unplug the usb cable of the DVD Writer then plug it back in. Windows 7 reinstalled the driver automatically and the DVD Writer is now working again.
I didn't have to uninstall Pinnacle Studio Plus 10.6.

Options
If only one of the two filters are listed, just proceed with deleting the one only, then resume.
What it fixes...

    * Your CD or DVD Drive does not read or write and is shown as disabled
    * The media in your CD or DVD drive cannot be read
    * The media cannot be written to by your CD or DVD drive
    * You receive one of the following errors:
          o A class specific or device specific driver is missing or corrupt
          o A CD or DVD drive cannot be found or is not connected
          o The CD or DVD drive is experiencing a problem that prevents it from working properly
          o The CD or DVD drive is not accessible via an assigned drive letter

2.Manual - make a backup of the registry and your important documents first. Just in case.

Start -> Run -> Regedit ->  Edit -> Find ->

Delete "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdudf\"
Delete "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\UdfReadr\"

Fish Shack (Plano, TX)

The best fish Tacos that I have had so far.
Of all the fish tacos that I have tried, none of them really taste good. The tacos were either too soft and/or the fish were a little too 'fishy'. But not this place. Their soft tacos actually have a little texture to it. The fish was well marinated. No fishy taste at all.

Pho Pasteur 2 (Carrollton, TX)

An OK Pho.
We ate at this place recently while in the neighborhood.
As usual we ordered 2 different dishes when ever trying out a new place. This time we ordered Pho and Broken rice with Pork chop and Bi and an extra side of grilled meat. Pho was OK but both the Pork chop and grill meat was a little dry and hard.

Dinosaur World (Glen Rose, TX)

Just a little more an hour from Dallas, this place is great for the little ones who like dinosaurs. They have a lot of dinosaur statues on display. My 5 year old boy had a blast checking out all kind of different dinosaurs. The other neat thing was that for $2, the kids can go through the sand and look for fossils. There were a lot of them in the sand and best part is you got to keep 3. We found lots of small shark teeth fossils.

Also going a little further north on the same road (59) is the Dinosaur Valley State Park.

Dinosaur Valley State Park (Glen Rose, TX)

 Just a little more than an hour from Dallas. This place is just a little drive further north of the Dinosaur World. Very cool place. Where in the world can you enjoy dipping in the water and walk on the dinosaur tracks at the same time? We went there with my 2 little kids (2 year girl and 5 year old boy). My 5 year old loved the dinosaur foot prints. Both f them enjoyed playing in the stream. We went to site # 1 and # 2. Both sites were not accessible by strollers. If you have small babies, I would recommend to go to skip site #1 and go to site #2. There were other sites but we didn't have the time to explorer them.

Also check out Dinosaur World where they have 100+ dinosaur statues.
