Freemake Video Converter

Finally, a FREE video converter that I can really use. I have tried numerous converters before and none that could satisfy me. Other were either too slow, hard to use, or produce very bad quality videos. This one is so easy to use and fairly decent converting time and good video quality. It supports converting AVI, MP4, MKV, WMV, MPG, 3GP, SWF, FLV, TOD, AVCHD, MOV, QT, TS, MTS and more. It has 1 pass and 2 pass converting options but I did not see the benefit of 2 pass converting. 2 pass is just plain slow and I could not really see the difference between the 2.

Note that if you want to get the highest quality, always convert to the Original video size. It does not matter if you're converting to AVI or MKV. The option to burn to DVD from a video file is great. You can also rip the DVD to a number of popular formats (including MPEG2, MP4, WMV, MKV, AVI, SWF). Really cool software...and it is FREE.

Update:
I tried converting AVCHD (.m2ts) video files but it didn't come out right. The video is clear BUT it has some kind of skip effect on the scenes when you move the camera.
