Things to do in Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) for kids

Here are some of the places that I have been to and would highly recommended for anyone visiting the Dallas Fort Worth Area.

    1. Dallas Arboretum

      Note: A beautiful garden by the White Rock lake. Very well designed and maintained. They're building a children garden in there and expect to finish by 2013.
    2. Dallas Zoo

      Note: Check out their new section of the zoo (Giants of Savanna and Wilds of Africa). From the Serengeti Grill restaurant inside the zoo, you can literally stand next to the Lions behind a glass window.

    3. Dallas World Aquarium

      Parking:
      Use the meters nearby for cheaper rate. A quarter for every 30 minnutes.

      September 6 - February 28 : 10:00 am- 5:00 pm daily (closed Thanksgiving & Christmas)
      March 1 - September 5 : 9:00 am - 5:00 pm daily

      Note: Take the elevator to tour from the top down. Don't miss the glass tunnel and the penguins out side the windows of the gift shop.

    4. Pioneer Plaza Cattle Drive

      FREE parking spaces on Young Street.

      Time to Spend:
      30 minutes

      Note: This 4+ acre park has a stream, native plants, 49 life size longhorn cattle and 3 cowboys on horses.

    5. Fort Worth Zoo

      Note: Walk to the end of the zoo and take a miniature train back to the main entrance (for a small fee).

    6. Founders' Plaza Observation Area

      As long as you like

      Note: Great for kids who love watching airplane taking off and landing. The plaza has parking, picnic tables (some with covers so you don’t have to sit under the sun), telescopes, historic information, a commemorative monument and a radio that broadcasts LIVE air traffic control communications from the FAA tower.

    7. Fort Worth Water Gardens

      Meter parking on the streets.

      Time to Spend:
      30 minutes

      Note: A beautiful water fountain. Not recommended for little kids to walk down the fountain.
