If you have not been there, you need to go there now :-)
Tips:
1) The Riverwalk is FREE.
2) If you have small kids, bring strollers that is light and easy to fold up. There are bridges and stairs to the street level that are not very stroller friendly. Some are pretty steep too.
4) If you plan to visit San Antonio in January, don't forget to check out the drain dates from the link below. Once a year, they drain all the water from the River Walk to do maintenance.

The whole river is lighted up like a wonderland. Thye also have the parade on the river so check out the site in #8 below for more information.
6) Plan to spend half a day in the River Walk including a meal and river cruise.
7) There are other attractions in and around San Antonio like The Alamo, the Missions, SeaWorld, Schlitterbahn Water Park (which was named the #1 water park in the world by the Travel Channel) and many others.
